UVA’s BS in Kinesiology offers a comprehensive study of the biological and behavioral foundations of human movement. Students explore biomechanics, motor learning, exercise physiology, and sports psychology through lab work, field experience, and research. With a strong focus on health promotion, injury prevention, and physical rehabilitation, this program prepares students for careers in athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or graduate health sciences. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, applied science, and community health outreach.
Study of balance and fall prevention strategies in older adults using motion capture analysis
Designing a training program for adolescent athletes to prevent ACL injuries
Biomechanical comparison of running techniques among barefoot and shoe-wearing individuals
Development of an ergonomic workstation assessment protocol for office workers
Experiment on the acute effects of caffeine on exercise performance and reaction time
Evaluation of mobility outcomes in post-stroke rehabilitation patients using wearable sensors
Creating an educational outreach program on youth physical literacy in underserved schools
Monitoring hydration status and its effect on muscle recovery in collegiate athletes
Assessment of postural control in individuals with mild traumatic brain injury
Designing a mobile app for tracking physical activity and motivation in adolescents
Review of literature on neuromuscular training interventions for injury prevention
Pilot study examining proprioception training on ankle stability in dancers
Measurement of respiratory function in athletes using portable spirometry
Developing a resistance training plan for aging populations with osteopenia
Cross-sectional study of sleep quality and athletic performance among varsity teams
Implementing a mindfulness-based stress reduction program for kinesiology students
Comparison of wearable fitness trackers in measuring energy expenditure
Assessing motor learning improvements with augmented reality rehabilitation tools
