Project Ideas for Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science

Study Earth's atmosphere, oceans, and climate systems using data-driven science.

🏛 Introduction

UMD’s BS in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science (AOSC) explores the dynamic interactions between the Earth's atmosphere and oceans, equipping students with the scientific and technical knowledge needed to address environmental challenges such as climate change, extreme weather, and air quality. Students gain hands-on experience through computational modeling, field observations, and remote sensing technologies. Located near NOAA and NASA centers, the program provides access to federal research collaborations and internships. Graduates pursue careers in meteorology, environmental consulting, and climate policy, or advance to graduate studies in atmospheric sciences.
