UNC’s Women’s and Gender Studies BA immerses students in feminist, queer, and trans theories while centering lived experience and coalition-building. Interdisciplinary coursework draws from sociology, public health, literature, and digital humanities to analyze how gender intersects with race, class, sexuality, disability, and nation. Majors curate zine archives, conduct participatory action research with community partners, and critique algorithmic bias in social-media platforms. Study-abroad exchanges in Cape Town and Amsterdam and internships with NGOs, reproductive-justice clinics, and media outlets equip graduates to translate scholarship into activism, policy, and creative practice.
