Ohio State’s Doctor of Audiology (AuD) is a professional doctoral program that trains students to assess hearing, diagnose balance issues, fit hearing aids and cochlear implants, and engage in auditory research. The program includes clinical rotations, simulation labs, and coursework in electrophysiology, pediatrics, auditory neuroscience, and counseling. With access to OSU’s Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic and healthcare system, students graduate prepared to serve diverse populations in healthcare and academic settings.
Designing pediatric hearing screening protocols for early language intervention
Developing an auditory training app for age-related hearing loss rehabilitation
Evaluating speech perception outcomes in bilingual cochlear implant users
Creating evidence-based guidelines for hearing aid fitting in rural populations
Vestibular function testing accuracy using portable diagnostic tools
Exploring the relationship between hearing loss and cognitive decline in older adults
Investigating auditory evoked potential responses in neonatal populations
Assessing tinnitus management strategies in veterans with noise exposure history
Comparative study of over-the-counter vs. prescription hearing amplification devices
Studying the impact of early auditory deprivation on language acquisition
Analyzing the effect of virtual reality environments on auditory spatial awareness
Developing culturally appropriate auditory health education materials
Evaluating listening effort using pupillometry in noisy environments
Creating remote audiology service delivery models for underserved areas
Noise exposure analysis and education interventions for music professionals
Designing mobile hearing testing units for community health fairs
Assessing clinician bias in audiological counseling for diverse populations
Study of real-ear measurement usage trends in private vs. academic clinics
Standardizing outcomes measurement tools in vestibular rehabilitation programs
Developing AI-based classifiers for early detection of auditory processing disorder
