The BA in African American and African Studies at Ohio State University offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the global African experience. Students in this program engage critically with historical, political, cultural, and literary narratives that shape the identities of African and African-descended communities across time and space. The program cultivates a strong foundation in social justice, diaspora studies, and the arts, preparing graduates to analyze systemic inequities and contribute to transformative societal change. Through coursework in history, sociology, literature, and art, students gain both theoretical insights and practical tools to engage in activism, policy, education, and cultural preservation. This program fosters an academic environment that values community engagement, inclusive scholarship, and intellectual rigor.
